How It Works
Teach One Block at a Time
Introduce the vocabulary for a block, explain meanings, model use, and have pupils practise actively.
Apply Immediately
Use words straight away in oral storytelling, sentence improvement, short writing tasks, and shared writing.
Build Stories Using the Blocks
Use the building blocks as a checklist to plan stories:
- Who is in the story?
- Where does it take place?
- What’s happening?
- How do they feel?
- What’s the atmosphere like?
- What can they sense?
Reuse and Reinforce
Return consistently to the vocabulary across lessons and weeks, helping pupils internalise and transfer words to context.
Feedback with Purpose
Use block language in feedback: “Add more setting detail,” “Strengthen the emotion here,” “Can you enhance the action?”
