Every child deserves the power of literacy.

The Wordsmith Scholars Grant provides free or discounted access to Mrs Wordsmith’s literacy resources — from phonics to vocabulary — for schools and districts serving students who need it most.

The Challenge

We are living through a literacy crisis. Reading levels are declining, achievement gaps are widening, and shrinking budgets make it harder than ever for schools to bring effective solutions into classrooms.

At the heart of this crisis are phonics and vocabulary. Students need both the ability to decode words and the knowledge to understand them. Yet explicit instruction in these areas is too often missing, leaving too many children behind.

Teachers and educators are working harder than ever — but they can’t do it alone. They need supplemental tools that increase exposure to words, provide joyful practice, and complement the curriculum they already teach.

Our commitment

At Mrs Wordsmith, we believe literacy is power.

Our approach is grounded in the Science of Reading: pairing early phonics skills with vocabulary development, and practicing “little and often” through joyful, flexible resources.

Our world of literacy tools — from phonics card games and grade-level workbooks to vocabulary flipbooks, video games, and intervention bundles — saves teachers time while giving students the extra practice they need to thrive.

The Wordsmith Scholars Grant is our commitment to equity: ensuring cost is never a barrier for educators who share our mission to close literacy gaps and unlock opportunity for every child.

How long does the grant last?

One academic year. At the end of the year, schools can reapply or purchase licenses/bundles at a discounted rate.
