When it comes to teaching literacy, Mrs Wordsmith has always believed in the combination of science, comedy, and vibrant illustrations. Now, in a bold new partnership with the BRIT School, we’re taking this mission further by putting the creative power directly into the hands of the younger generation.

Empowering the Next Generation of Creators

This year, we’ve been collaborating with a few BRIT School students from our London office. Putting AI tools to the test, they’ve been working hard to bring Gen Z words to life in our usual house style – because who better to illustrate ‘aura’ than the people who use these words day-to-day?

Aura (noun): a cool vibe or energy, like what someone seems to have when they ride a motorbike calmly into the sunset. This is an AI image generated by BRIT School students, using the word 'Aura' and it's meaning as a prompt.

Our illustration team has been training these students to harness AI as a creative tool, strengthening their skills in both prompt engineering and digital illustration. These are the skills that will define tomorrow's creative industries, giving students a head start in fields where human imagination meets machine intelligence.

How Slack Supercharges the Creative Process

While Mrs Wordsmith and BRIT School drive the vision, Slack is the engine that makes the magic happen. The process is simple but powerful:

Students log into a dedicated Slack channel and type prompts to generate artwork illustrating a word’s meaning.
Slack connects to Mrs Wordsmith’s AI tool and illustration database, leveraging our cutting-edge models.
The AI interprets the prompt and generates multiple illustration options.
Students review, select, and refine the artwork, all within Slack.
Once the illustration meets their standards, students polish the final piece before it heads to production.

Slack makes advanced AI accessible to everyone involved in this project by streamlining complex AI commands into simple interactions with our bespoke Slack bot. Slack transforms what could be a technically complex process into an accessible, collaborative experience for everyone involved. Instead of requiring users to manually configure AI models or tweak parameters, our custom Slack bot handles all the technical details behind the scenes. This means students, writers, and illustrators—regardless of their technical background—can effortlessly generate, review, and refine AI-powered artwork simply by interacting in a familiar Slack channel.

By connecting directly to powerful AI models hosted on Replicate, our Slackbot empowers the entire team to leverage cutting-edge technology without advanced setup or technical know-how. The result: everyone, from 16-year-old students to professional creatives, can harness AI’s superpowers to bring their ideas to life, focusing on creativity and collaboration rather than configuration.
