STUDENTS AREN'T READING PROFICIENTLY

Two-thirds of fourth graders are unable to activate the basic literacy skills they need to learn and understand new words. Readers need to know 95-98% of the words in a text to comprehend it. Teachers, you already know this! So how can we help you improve students' vocabularies for success in reading and beyond?

BOOST VOCABULARY, THE FUN WAY!

Word Tag is a fast-paced video game that uses the Science of Reading to teach kids new vocabulary. With just 20 minutes of daily gameplay, students encounter new words via exciting worlds and scientifically-backed game design that enhance their vocabulary acquisition, and deepen their relationship with words. The result? An increase in vocabulary scores by up to 43% in the first month.

Proven Results

In the summer of 2022, we recruited 19 children to participate in the project testing the efficacy of Word Tag. Here's what we found out:

  • 43% vocabulary score improvement in the first month

  • Students learn up to 1,000 new words annually

  • Word Tag enhances reading level comprehension

DESIGNED FOR TEACHERS TOO

Word Tag comes with a companion dashboard for teachers so you can oversee students' learning as they play.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND WORD TAG

For kids to truly integrate new words, they need to experience the word in its form, in its context, and in relation to other words. So we've built a universe that's centered around exactly that: opportunities for students to encounter words in meaningful ways. Pairing this approach with spaced repetition, Word Tag gives students 6-8 exposures at increasing time intervals so they can achieve vocabulary mastery.
