My kids loved learning a new word each day! The illustrations were fun and they enjoyed the challenge of recalling definitions from previous lessons

Turns learning into something kids actually enjoy

Love Mrs Wordsmith products as both a parent and speech pathologist to support language and literacy development. My go to faves include Blah Blah Blah for a fun Uno style phonics game as it is always a hit with the kids! I also love pairing the Storyteller's dictionary with Narrative Intervention to boost vocabulary development.

Wouldn't engage with reading, now asks to play every day

Saw a quick advert on Instagram which lead me to look for into the Blah Blah Blah Card Game. My son is 5 and I find it hard to get him engaged into reading, outside of school. I've had this game now for 2 days and it's the first thing he asks to play when walking in the door from school. He loves it. And it great to see him excited about learning what's on each card.

One-size tools don't work, now adapts to different skill levels easily

The word a day is a good resource and my daughter enjoys making up the little stories using the words. I want to use this resource lots as it has so many uses so better durability will be amazing. Blah blah blah game is really fun. My children enjoy playing it as much as other card games we have without realising the academic angle.

Struggles with traditional learning, now engages through visuals and play

The Blah Blah Blah game is great fun and low key. The fact that there are different levels of difficulty makes it so much more versatile. The illustrations and humour are what make this offering stand out from the pack. They have all been such a hit with my son who is 7 and dyslexic. Thank you Mrs Wordsmith!!

Questions parents usually ask

How is this different from a regular vocabulary book?

It doesn’t just list words - it helps children understand, connect, and actually use them through stories, examples, and repetition.

What age is this best for?

It’s designed for ages 8–12, but works well for any child building vocabulary and confidence with language.

How should my child use it?

Just one word a day. Explore the meaning, see how it’s used, and try using it in a sentence or story.

Does this work for reluctant learners?

Yes - the visual format and story-based approach make it more engaging than traditional worksheets or memorisation.

Is this suitable for ESL / EAL learners?

Absolutely. It helps children understand words in context, which is key for building real language skills.

Do I need the app for this to work?

No - the book works on its own. The app is an optional bonus for extra practice.

Can this be used in the classroom?

Yes - many teachers use it for daily vocabulary practice, writing prompts, or group discussion.
